Kayaking Adventure in the Wadden Sea off Cuxhaven (North Sea)

(Paddlers are still among themselves, millions of birds and it's cold on/in the sea) and/or later by appointment this year possible too. First registrations are already done.

Location: North Sea – Wadden Sea with more or less (mud flats) water near Cuxhaven - Neuwerk, Germany

Participants: min. 4, max. 10 (+2 Detlef St. + . Werner G. of www.kanukarte.de , Detlef possibly takes a trailer with 8-10 kayaks coming up from southern Germany, seats, sea kayaks and transport might be available).

Price: € 150 p.P. / Price includes VAT
binding registration 20% of the sum has to be paid, no-shows will not be refunded). By a non binding email info@detlev-henschel.com or by appointment (with application 20% of the sum will become due, which will not be refunded for no-shows). to me participants can be put on a list which has to be confirmed in April s.a. on request. First come first served!

Schedule / performance:
Depending on the weather, it is intended to paddle to the island of Neuwerk near Cuxhaven (North Sea). Perhaps it is even possible to get an official permit to visit Scharhörn (bird’s breeding island) and to "a kayaker’s rest" (a wreck). If the weather allows, we can also have a trip into the mud flats - (bring old sneakers!) with or without the kayaks on May 4^th etc ...
All factors (route, overnight -tent, barn-, fire, Scharhörn etc.) depend on the weather and on very short notification on the THEN existing conditions for the National Park. I will clarify myself right before the trip because I was born there and known. - Because Germany wants to save the world at the moment, however, conditions change constantly, so I can only learn in April accurate (when are the "goose weeks", etc.) what’s exactly about. Participants will be notified shortly before take off.

Basically the skill level should be “Home Game level” but as the sea, North Sea = “Killer Sea” can not be controlled "Expedition level" and "Survival level" must be expected (read more on my homepage www.detlev-henschel.com), - therefore, the kayak and the equipment has to be managed on a skilled level – easy acclimatisation/training is not possible at this time of the year and site! (A confirmed registration is only possible after April 1st, 2012, I can offer assistance with uncertainties related equipment etc. after confirmed registry. We are not suicidal, OK! Fun and adventure, is our motto. The weakest (strength / spirit) makes the pace due to wind conditions and seaworthiness, etc. I will give an insight in the surrounding nature (coast / vegetation / wadden sea / sea), short walks are mandatory, too.

Performance:
  I act as a guide (Team Leader) and "Captain" (my order, my law, no exceptions - all National Park up here! No collecting eggs, no shooting seal or cows, no torpedoing any vessels!) At force 5, we probably do not take off (depending on the wind direction, skills and seaworthiness of ALL participants. At force 4 we might make a direct approach of the island it also depends on the wind direction, At force 6 ... well, possible with southern winds ...!
Please check www.cuxcam.com and www.wetteronline.de and because I can have no influence on the weather (I'm not that good, yet), there won’t be a refund. I'm definitely on site and ready from noon on the 4th . If the weather is too lousy, I'm considering anything without paddling on the open sea.

Meeting point:
Weather-dependent and will be issued to confirmed participants only!

Please bring:
Complete sea kayaking equipment and your own sea worthiness (No life vest no participation!), Tent, but without pegs, pegs in the dykes are not allowed as camping is at all!), camping equipment including food for a 5 star weekend to be really out there. 5 fat fireplace logs that fit into the kayak, or possibly even dry stored on deck. (If you've never been longer "out there" – I heard some people like this are left in the Ruhr area, no joke, I can get comprehensive information for the equipment after registry). Nautical charts and GPS are available, but bring it if you have, double check is not bad at all!
